Answer
• What is 101st's Mission?

The 101st Screaming Eagles 101st- community was founded for the mutual enjoyment of combat computer gaming. We encourage and appreciate participation and suggestions from all members, new and old, who wish to affect change in policy, rules and regulations, or any aspect of 101st operations. Nonetheless, there are several enduring constraints reflecting the original founders’ ideologies. Those constraints are comprehensively outlined in this document.
All clan activities are based in whole or in part on time honored military core values: Honor, Courage, Commitment, and Respect. All member behavior must be guided by at least one of these core values.

Clan 101st- is dedicated to improving the overall enjoyment of combat gaming in general by attracting and retaining quality mature gamers. We are friends first and gamers second. We always have each other’s back in this clan. We are a “Band of Brothers” in the truest sense of the word in the computer gaming world.
We share a passion for excellence in both tactical gaming and clan administration. We also highly value the Comradery associated with membership in the clan.
The 101st Constitution answers the need for a clear and concise set of rules and regulations, located in a single document and available to the 101st community and the public. The sole purpose of this document is to make all members and potential members aware of what they can expect of the clan and what the clan expects of them.

NOTE: the following rules and regulations apply to all current and future online activities such as online game-play, Ventrilo, forums, e-mail, and any other media), while participating with and representing 101st Screaming Eagles 101st-.

In keeping with the highest traditions of the military, we take care of our own. While not a rigid Para-military clan, much of the structure of the clan and certainly the teams are adapted from actual military organization and civilian professional management because IT WORKS RELIABLY and CONSISTENTLY when adhered to by
ALL members.

The majority of the leadership consists of either military or civilian professional specialists who also happen to be passionate about combat gaming and thus are willing to invest inordinate amounts of time, money, and energy for the good of the clan. They are to be commended for their commitment to the membership of Clan 101st- and their sacrifice to provide us a place to call home and play a few rounds every night.

The current average age of the clan is mid 30's. We have many active duty, ex-military, and military family members. For the majority of us, this is a way to honor our military and their families for their sacrifice for our country and the freedoms we enjoy. Most of us have families with teenagers who play online with us.
We have a clan leadership that is second to none in the gaming community. We have formed alliances with other clans who share the same ideals as we do. Please visit clan 101st- http://www.101st-clan.com as an example.

• Article I. Membership Requirements
MEMBERSHIP IS LIMITED TO PLAYERS 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
We are seeking mature, responsible, serious gamers only. We are sorry, but because we are a much older, more mature clan, the minimum age for clan membership is 18. We do however welcome players of any age on our servers.

This is a highly structured, well-disciplined, democratically managed, competitive-gaming based clan. Clan management duties, responsibilities, and authority are distributed among many clan members.

This is because MUTUAL TRUST, MUTUAL REPECT, PROFESSIONALISM, HONOR, CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, and ACCOUNTABILITY are the fundamental cornerstones of our leadership and our clan.

All major clan decisions are decided by the governing clan council whose decisions are final. Clan funding comes from the regular membership body in the form of Paypal donations to the Clan in care of the Executive Officer and Treasurer.

All contributions are recorded and reviewed by the clan council. There are no set fees for any member. A Treasurer's income and expense report is made available to the donating members in a private members forum for financial contributors on a monthly basis.

We adhere to a strict code of ethical conduct in gaming. Members, recruits, (and their sponsors) are held accountable for their actions anywhere on the internet as long as they wear the 101st- clan tag or the [101st-r] recruit tag. This tag must be worn at all times.

MEMBERSHIP IN THIS CLAN IS BY INVITATION ONLY.

In order to become a member, you must get to know us so we can get to know you. The process normally takes 30-60 days. That depends mostly on you. You may apply for membership at any time but there is normally a 30 day probationary waiting period before recruit status will be granted. This may be waived if you play more on the servers.

After the 30 day period or when approved, you will be allowed to wear the [101st-r] Tag for another 30 day period. If you prove yourself during that evaluation period that you have met all the qualifications of membership, you must submit a request to your sponsor for full membership status.

The 101st- tag is something we are very proud of. You will have paid your dues, earned it by then and deserve to wear it with pride as well.

We demand much higher standards in our members than most other clans. We demand an even higher standard from clan leaders and competition team members.

Requirements for 101st- membership consists of the following:

Requirements for becoming a 101st- member consists of the following:
1. You must play on at least one of our servers on a regular basis.

2. You must register on our website as a recruit.

3. Unless you are a military veteran, you must have an existing clan member as a sponsor who will be responsible for you during your recruit status. If you do not have one, a sponsor will be designated for you if accepted as a recruit. The membership may be open or closed at any time at the discretion of the Personnel
Officer and/or Clan Council due to the needs of the clan.

4. You must be able to consistently demonstrate an honorable game play style and exhibit a high degree of self-discipline. You must not disgrace the 101st- clan in any manner at any time especially during games.

5. You must show respect to game visitors, other clan members, and clan leaders at all times. You are expected to address ranked officers as "Sir" or "Ma'am" in keeping with military tradition. Report inappropriate conduct to a game admin for resolution. Do not engage in arguing with smaktards online. Under no circumstances are you to imply you are an admin and can kick players.

6. You must be willing to follow the directives of the clan leaders without fail. We have a clearly defined command structure on the competition teams and in clan administration which must be adhered to at all levels.

7. You must be willing to accept full responsibility for your actions in gaming or otherwise.

8. You may not be a participating member in any other active gaming clan.

9. You must be willing to contribute time, effort, and/or money and do your part to benefit the clan as necessary.

10. After your recruit probation period, your full membership status will be decided by recommendations from your sponsor, the Personnel Officer, your Division officer, and successful completion of the Sweat Lodge initiation conducted by the clan Elders. Decisions of the clan council of Elders are final.

11. You must know the clan chain of command, clan Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Constitution and abide by their rules at all times. The documents can be found elsewhere in this forum.

12. You must download and be able to use Ventrilo and or any other program required by the clan before being accepted as a recruit.

13. The use of cheats, hacks, exploits, bots, or any other form of unfair game play advantage on any 101st- server is considered dishonorable and will result in immediate expulsion from the clan and permanent banning from all 101st- servers and Ventrilo.

We do not restrict you to playing only our servers. In fact, we encourage you to visit other clan servers as an emissary. Report your findings to the Intelligence officer.

Membership is a privilege, not a right. Your membership status may be revoked at any time by the clan council for violating any of these requirements during or after your probationary recruit phase.

• Article II. Sportsmanship and Comradery
The key to good sportsmanship is respect for all players and a focus on team play and team spirit. There are several kinds of poor sportsmanship: failure to consider team balance, which is not always a simple case of making the numbers even; solo play with a focus on individual skills and score rather than team success; consistently playing on the "easy" side; a stubborn or belligerent unwillingness to accept the majority's wishes, and many more. Generally speaking, poor sportsmanship points to participation that exclusively promotes the individual's enjoyment at the expense of everyone else.

The cohesive element to this clan of gamers is the bond of friendship and being part of a team. This is what started this clan. As such we afford each other respect and understanding. We want our gaming experience to be positive and enjoyable. We want to feel safe in sharing the experience with others in our real rife. It is this element of 101st that makes us strong…. We are united as a team!

We are all role models in someone’s eyes. A child, a younger player, or anyone that looks up to you for guidance and direction. Make sure you conduct yourself accordingly at all times. The principles learned in this clan will no doubt make us all better people.

There is no "I" in team. The key to victory in battle is selflessness. We do not tolerate selfish players. The structure of the clan and the teams is based on sharing responsibility. It is fundamental to the core of the clan.

• Article III. Member Participation

Team play, team spirit, and mutual respect for all players are paramount. The fundamental 101st ideology is to play, score, and participate with and for the group, not for the individual. Game-playing or group participation just for one's self is considered poor sportsmanship and therefore not honorable. In 101st, good sportsmanship and mutual respect are mandatory.

Respect within a clan is something that's earned through the interaction and honesty of its members. This allows us to keep our sportsmanship, honor and fun. Be proud of who you are and the fact that you are a member of "101st - 101st Screaming Eagles". You can only expect to be treated with respect if you show that respect to others. "Be the best you can be" at all times. While wearing the 101st tab or any nickname that connects you to 101st, you will present yourself in a manner that is honorable to the rest of the clan. 101st members must possess a proactive outlook and strive to better the clan as a whole.

Any negative comments directed at any member or guest or directed at any group that a member or guest is actually or perceived to be a member of by any other member or guest with the intent of disparaging the member or guest is expressly forbidden. 101st- will make the final judgment on this matter should a problem arise.
Showing respect for your fellow 101st members includes offering to switch sides when the teams or the team skills are too unbalanced to allow for a fair game. It may also include playing a different player role when a majority of players request it. These kinds of actions, and many other similar ones, are integral to how we define respect and good sportsmanship.

No ridiculing, mocking, or inflammatory language except in fun and only in moderation. There is a distinction between constructive criticism, and belittling ridicule or flaming. On 101st servers there will always be friendly chatter and barbs made in fun. If you are overly sensitive and can't take a little riding occasionally, this may not be the place for you.

Whether you are participating on private 101st servers, 101st forums, or as an 101st-at-large in the world wide web, represent our community with a balanced dose of courtesy, tact and humor. What you do online in the public arena when you are not representing 101st is entirely your own business. What you do in the clan is ours.

It is expressly forbidden to utilize or disseminate any information about group members without their consent.

It is expressly forbidden to disseminate any classified or otherwise private Clan 101st- information to anyone outside the clan that could damage the reputation of The Clan.

You are highly encouraged to be an active member in clan activities.

• Article IV. Sex, Politics, and Religion

This is the most controversial of issues.

101st is in a multinational, multicultural community. The 101st community represents numerous and varied personal philosophies, morals, cultural mores, political beliefs, religious beliefs, and more. Therefore it is incumbent upon all members to refrain from questionable actions. It's simply a matter of respect for the others. If you use a tag, signature, or spray, or make a religious, political, or sexual comment that any other member finds offensive or upsetting, you must respect their wishes to remove or retract it. Concern for the other persons well being is essential. If you are worried about your own well being at the expense of your fellow 101st well being, 101st may not be the organization for you.

Pictures or descriptions of graphic violence, or of sexual acts, nudity, discharges of any bodily matter (fluid or solid) from human or animal is considered immature and is not welcomed here. Period!

• Article V. Clan Tag and Member Nicknames

The 101st- tag must be worn on all private 101st servers. The tag must be worn on public servers if and whenever the player is representing 101st, and at any other time that the member is representing the community.

All 101st members are required to use their registered 101st nickname during game play on all 101st servers.

Our clan tag represents who we are as a fighting unit. Unit patches have a long and distinguished heritage in the military and in computer gaming.
All personnel who are currently registered as an 101st- member will be assigned a uniform in-game, TS, and website member name.
All registered clan personnel are to use the following naming convention for website user names, Ventrilo nicknames, and game call signs:

Example: 101st- Pvt. New Member
Mixed upper and lower case
Proper first letter capitalization

Under no circumstances are MILITARY RANK designators to be used in an 101st- clan call sign without the Commanding Officer’s personal authorization - no exceptions.

Accepted recruits will be permitted to wear the clan recruit [101st-r] tag only when authorized by the Personnel Officer or other Clan officer holding the rank of Commander or above. Recruits appearing with improper tags will have an additional 30 days added to their recruit evaluation period.

Deviation from this will be considered being out of uniform. You must type this user name exactly according to this format in order to log in on all 101st servers.
This policy is to establish uniformity in clan appearance. Wear your 101st- clan tag with pride and honor at all times.

Names designed purely for shock value (for instance, James's Bitch, Jizzstik, PenisEnvy, Hitler, John The Baptist, Christ On AStick, just to name a few), are highly discouraged. Many, maybe even most, of our members would not object to some of those names, but some members would find them insulting or offensive from a personal, moral perspective. Who's to say they are wrong? The members of 101st are mature, intelligent people. The thrill-factor implicit in names with political, ethnic or religious shock-value, or juvenile sexual innuendos is not something that the entire 101st community shares with pleasure. Once again, it is simply an issue of concern for the well-being of the other members with whom you participate, and meeting the adult constraints of being a member of the gaming community as a whole.

Everyone must have the ability, or at least try, to think beyond himself or herself, and accept and understand that people who take the opposite side feel they are just as right as you do. We have to be able to compromise. We know we are never going to be in complete agreement on very many issues. It doesn't mean we have to walk around on eggshells, I mean we should be open minded enough to take our differences into consideration.

Use of the following is expressly forbidden:

Inappropriate Tags, Signatures, and Sprays
Human nudity: either cartoons or photographs
Political affiliations and/or partisan promotions
Potentially inflammatory flags, images, or statements, or ethnic slurs (Country flags are acceptable)
All "shock-value" tags, signatures, and sprays

• Article VI. Servers and game play

101st servers and the website are paid for by the membership. As such, 101st members have priority. The servers may also be visited by 101st friends and family members. While they do not have priority on the servers, it is suggested you announce your kicking of these persons before you start an argument! Watch your written and vocalized comments...someone (or someone's child) may be watching and/or listening. Abusive language is not tolerated...PERIOD!

TeamSpeak and Ventrilo are tools for the clan to communicate to each other and other clans or persons. Keep in mind that YOU and WE are being evaluated by what we say or don't say. Flaming or other derogatory remarks are to be done in another clan…not here. If you have an issue with a member or anyone, please take it up with your squad leader, team leader or on your own time and channel.

The public Ventrilo channel is for general conversation only, Out of respect for all. if you are in-game, it is suggested you and your buddies move to another Ventrilo channel. Ample channels have been provided for that purpose. More will be created upon request. Likewise, if you are helping another member with logon, registration, or other time-intensive communication, please move to another channel.

Avoid "hogging" the channels and filling them with irrelevant information and idle chat. Tactical channels are to be kept on an essential information only basis.
Since we play on many different servers.

Do not engage in conversation on Ventrilo if you are overly intoxicated. It is not dignified to engage in a conversation you are not likely to remember the next day. The other members will certainly remember it for you.

The use of cheats or hacks is expressly forbidden. Any member found guilty of cheating by due process of the clan council is subject to immediate revocation of membership privileges and permanent ban from the clan and its servers. Offenders will be reported to Punkbuster and a dossier will be shared with Allied Clans.

• Article VIII. 101st Ventrilo and Website Usage Guidelines

Website purpose:

The website is designed to be a vibrant, constantly changing member communication forum. Full use of today's rich multi-media content is highly encouraged. There is an abundance of talent in this clan. The website belongs to the membership and so reflects to the world who we are. You can play music, videos, post cartoons, news clip, etc. as well as upload and download files shared among the members. It is your website to enjoy. Check the posts regularly. A dead website that no one reads is the sign of a dead clan. Ours is quite alive. Keep it that way by participating.

There is something here for everyone who is a member. If you don't see it, just let us know what you would like. The website guarantees your right to be heard. Just make sure what you post there doesn't come back to haunt you and the other members.

With freedom of speech comes the freedom to be civil. Many people who argue for freedom of speech and become abusive and antagonistic in online forums and Ventrilo are really saying, "I want to say whatever I choose, however destructive, uninformed, hostile, abusive, and manipulative it may be, and I don't want to be informed of any mistakes I may make in fact or logic. I've been everywhere and done everything so don't question me." That may be an exhibition of freedom of speech, but it's more representative of social irresponsibility and lack of respect for themselves or anyone else. Such behavior will not be tolerated on 101st servers.

Anyone who can't speak his or her mind without being civil is not worthy of being listened to. It seems so easy for some people to take the website for granted and abuse the privilege of its existence. It does no harm to think about what they say before they say it, or to put themselves in the listeners' shoes first. Be very careful of what you post on the member forums. Be even more careful of what you post on the public forums.

The 101st website will not censor peoples' personal beliefs, opinions, social philosophies, etc. 101st Website admins may censor the method of expression -- not what is said, but how it is said. If poster X wants to tell poster Y that his statement that "Ralph Nader is a better human being than G. W. Bush" is wrong, that's fine. If they want to argue about it, that's fine too.

But if they want to do so by telling each other that they are "offensive syphilitic bastards whose mothers were Bronx hookers who should be ripped to shreds by packs of rabid dogs, and all stinking left-wing, right-wing, conservative-pinko-commie-faggot-gun-toting-bastards like you should suffer the same fate," the thread will be deleted.

These guidelines are fairly broad. There is quite a lot of leeway in the definition of what is and what is not considered courteous, thoughtful, and civil discourse. That's where your responsibility under freedom of speech comes in. Also, it will be up to the forum moderators and website admins to determine when and where to move posts and threads as they deem necessary, but the moderators must treat each and every poster with the respect that these guidelines demand regardless of how ill-treated the moderator may be. Moderators and administrators will set the example for everyone else who uses this website. In more serious cases where moderators feel a poster needs to be banned, the 101st council will decide the matter.

Website Guidelines

The website forums are the world's windows to us. The posts in these forums reflect the fundamental 101st philosophy and attitude. The posts in these forums will clearly reflect the 101st Code of Honor and these 101st Website usage guidelines.

Freedom of speech and opinion is 101st website policy. Freedom of abusive expression is not 101st website policy.

Courteous, thoughtful, and civil discourse is a requirement in all forums. Humor and fun are encouraged and respected.

Any poster who feels they have been personally attacked without just cause may bring it to the attention of the 101st website Administrators for adjudication. Any poster that has a post removed for any reason will be emailed to the reasons why. Any poster that continually uses profane, abusive, or objectionable material on the forums faces possible banning from the forums. Forum moderators have total freedom to move any posts they feel are off-topic to a more appropriate forum. While posts about politics and religion are not forbidden, it is hoped that posters will make an honest attempt to avoid those topics.

• Article IX. Funding

Game servers and websites cost money. Administering them requires a great deal of time and effort as well. If you are a member of the clan and value it, you are expected to do your part to support it and participate in clan activities. All clan activities are funded by clan members. The founders, current officers and admins have all contributed significant amounts of time and money to create this clan for the enjoyment of the membership. There is no fee requirement for membership. There is no fee requirement to be an officer or game play admin. Game admin privileges are granted by Admin Leaders based on the individual, not on a financial contribution. We do expect the general membership to contribute whatever they can in terms of time and/or money to ensure the continued success of the clan. A donation of $25 per month for Officers and admins is suggested. The more each member contributes, the less it will cost each member. All donations are fully accounted for by the treasurer. A treasurer's report will be posted each month listing operating income and expenses. As a matter of privacy, the individual amounts contributed by each member will remain classified. Only the totals will be posted. Paypal is the standard method of contribution. You can send any amount. Alternative methods of payment may be used at the discretion of the Treasurer and/or the Executive Officer.

• Article X. Clan judicial government

This clan is founded on and will be governed by in large part by the following guiding authorities: 1. Democratic principles of The United States of America. 2. Judicial principles of The United States of America. 3. Code of Honor, Conduct, and Customs of the United States Military Armed Forces. 4. Ancient tribal clan customs and beliefs. 5. The freedom we enjoy due the deeds of those who have served the cause of freedom throughout history. 7. The utmost honor and reverence to those who have given their lives in the pursuit of freedom from Valley Forge to Baghdad. We devote the highest degree honor to MIA's, POW's and their families. 8. We will not mimic, copy, or otherwise represent ourselves as being members of actual combat groups unless we are or have been. All Clan decisions are decided by majority vote of the Clan Council and are considered final. The number of voting members of the council will always be odd to ensure a majority decision. The regular admins and leaders comprise the legislature and chain of command. The Commanding officer reserves the right to make a final decision on any issue before the clan subject to his or her peers. However, There is no single person in this clan who has absolute power. Decisions are made by leaders entrusted by the membership with fiduciary responsibility to the clan as a whole. The Commanding Officer normally functions as Senior Elder and Commander and Chief of the Clan. The Senior Elder may appoint another Qualified Elder as the Commanding Officer of the Clan. Starting with that office, any Officer or other member serving the clan in a leadership position who is judged to be incapable for whatever reason of fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of that office by due process of the council will be immediately relieved of command and reassigned duties subject to the needs of the clan. Hearings: A member may request a hearing of the clan council at any time. A request in writing must be submitted to the Personnel Officer. Judicial punishment: This procedure closely follows the Uniform Code of Military Justice and is determined by the Clan Council. The Current Core of the Clan Council and Legislative Branch is as follows:

Voting members (10)
Clan High Council (3)

This constitution is subject to amendments as promulgated by the clan council as represented by each members vote.
